As this year comes to a close I can’t help but wonder where it went. A lot of people I talk to say that 2024 felt never ending to them, but to me it all blurred together and I can hardly believe it’s been 365 days since I drove home from a New Year’s Eve party.
2024 had its ups and downs and lots of stagnant moments but with the 25th year of my life slowly wrapping out I spent some time scrolling back through my photo album. I learned I need to take more photos and videos of memories outside of just my students, but amongst the class parties and photos of my students’ latest playdough creations, I found something beautiful from each month.
Here are the highest of highs from each month of 2024.
January: Getting our puppy dog.
January 1st we came home with our too sweet 6th month puppy. Fulton has captured all our hearts this year. (Yes, even my moms!) Though if he can make his New Year’s Resolution to be to wake up at 7am… I would appreciate it.
The other highlight of January was my Murdery Mystery Dinner Party. Those on my email list got all the fun details to this so be sure to Subscribe to the blog if you aren’t for fun emails like that.
February: Bestie Adventures
One of my Best Friends got to come out to California for the first time and we spent an awesome week together after 2 years of not seeing each other in person. Darn you thousands of miles in between California and Ohio!
March: Seeing my great grandma.
She turned 99 this year! I hadn’t seen her in 3 years and it was such a blessing that she could make the trip out from Mexico and I could see her a few times. Isn’t she so cute!
April: Falconrying
We took my cousin for his late birthday present to the Total Raptor Encounter in La Jolla where he got to interact with Falcons and Hawks. It was an awesome experience to watch.
May: The Great Comet of 1812
I got to go watch The Great Comet at the Cygnet Theater in San Diego. It was amazing. The cast was incredibly talented and this is one of my favorite musicals of all time, so I was thrilled.
June: Watching the Bro pitch… even if we were melting
I was able to watch my brother pitch during his baseball camp in Palm Springs. We were actually melting away from the heat but it was fun nonetheless.
July: Cousin Fun Day of Fun and Roomie Outings
My brother and two little cousins love doing our “Cousin Fun Day of Fun” at least once a year. Where we find an activity to go do and then grab some food. This year we went to a Spo-Cha where you get to do all these indoor sports activities, karaoke, and more. We spent a lot of time doing the mechanical bull.
I also got to spend a week with my college roomie! We went to a lot of fun places and you can read all about it >>here<<
August: Tahoe
My family headed up to Lake Tahoe for a few days which is always a fun time. It was special this year too because we took Fulton With us! He did amazing! He did his first 10 hour drive, got to explore a beach (which he hated), and went out to eat with us where he got his own ice cream and chicken. He is so spoiled.
September: Hobbit Day
I went to a Hobbit Day party where we ate only Earl Gray themed foods and dressed like we were from Hobbiton. I made some Early Gray chicken kabobs. They came out great!
October: The Drive-In
I have been wanting to go to the drive-in for years. I went to see The Wild Robot and it was so super cute. I cried. Highly recommend it.
November: WICKED and a Sibling Video
If you know me, you know Wicked is my favorite musical so of course I had to see it. My Tio and I went to opening day, wearing Wicked inspired outfits, and were pleasantly surprised. I was worried but I really enjoyed it and will be seeing part two when it comes out.
After a two year hiatus, the request was answered, and a new sibling video came out Thanksgiving Day. If you haven’t seen it you can find that >here<.
December: The Polar Express and *surprise* I’m Engaged
My Christmas Present to my boyfriend was going to The Polar Express. It was his favorite Christmas movie as a child and there is the actual train experience near me. We wore jammies and they sang and danced in the aisles and gave us Hot Chocolate. It was a great experience and he was so surprised!
Though, I do think he won the best Christmas gift giving. Three years together and I can’t wait to marry him.
What are your highlights of 2024! Tell me all of your favorite moments!
Knowing this next year is going to be very busy I am planning to be very intentional with the things I do. Stay tuned for my 2025 goals and a look back on 2024 in books, coming soon.
