Wearing Everything in my Closet

It is like a recurring nightmare. You open your closet. You have nothing to wear. It is filled to the brim, and you are starting to feel as though you hate everything you own. Yep, I have been there. I am there right now. My closet has accumulated many items over the year, maybe too many items of which have been there since before I started high school, and I have come to the conclusion that I need change.

It has also come to my attention after my friend looked at my closet and said, “Alexandra why have I never seen you wear any of these things?”, that I tend to wear the same 4 or 5 shirts over and over again in a never-ending cycle. Which brings me back to the problem. I have too many things and I need to figure out what to do about it.

The solution?

Try to wear everything in my wardrobe to determine what I do want to keep and what I need to get out of here asap.

To try and be sure I was grabbing more than the same few shirts I flipped all of my hangers around. That way after I wore an item I would flip the hanger back correctly and can work to avoid that article of clothing next time I looked for an outfit. I got this idea on Pinterest which is my go-to for anything and everything!

I started this challenge at the beginning of June and for the first two weeks, it went outstandingly well. Now getting ready to end the second month of this, I have worn over half of my clothes, but have definitely reached for the same shirts over and over. With the new school year quickly approaching, I plan to take all the clothes I haven’t worn out of the wardrobe.  This should make room for new pieces that match my style which has evolved and give love to the pieces I found in this challenge that I forgot about.

This has helped me work to find ways to take the things I already have and make them into outfits that fit my current style. While it has been hard, “No Alexandra you’ve already worn that” “But it is soooo comfy!!” It has also been really fun to see what outfits I can come up with.
