The Month of July is THE summer month. It is the month where everything you wanted to do over the summer is planned to get done. The days are super long and basically every day is sunny and hot. The month where every day can be spent in the water. I like July.

This summer I am trying to add even small fun new things into my days. Even if that is something as small as running to grab an ice cream just cuz or planning an extra game night.
Let’s live for all the little moments this summer!
The Things To Do:
Make a fun snack
Summer is a time for snacks. I have gotten really into making my own snacks to have on hand.
I started making these peanut butter balls a few months ago and they are a huge hit in my household. An easy snack for anytime and they taste like Capt’n Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal!
1 cup oats
1/2 cup PB
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Bonus: add 2 tablespoons of flax, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and a pinch of salt
Explore somewhere close to home you haven’t before
I think we all forget that there are still places close to home that are actually fun.
While searching for something interesting to do I stumbled upon Glow in the Dark mini golf and had to try it. It became a family endeavors with some of our family friends and it was really fun. We did the one at Tyler Mall in Riverside that has 27 holes and is around the world themed. Great way to pretend we have traveled anywhere lol.
Outdoor Movie Night
My nino has a projector and he let me borrow it so we could watch stuff in the pool. My brother and our family friends have been binging the original Ben 10 series so we watched that in the pool, plus H20 because how could you not. Then my family for Father’s Day FINALLY watched Jaws in the pool like we have been wanting to do for years.

Highly recommend doing an outdoor movie night this summer. If you do let me know what you watch!
Go eat somewhere you have never been before
I am a huge foodie. I have talked about food a decent amount of times on the blog and won’t be stopping anytime soon. Finding new good places is an all year round experience but I think summer is an especially great time to do this because there are a ton of outdoor places to try.
This week I stopped by the PUBlic House in Old Town Temecula and it was delicious. I wish I had photos to show but I was too busy stuffing my face to even think of taking a picture Oops.
To Listen To:
All three of these artists are played nonstop for me during the summer because they have such great summer vibe sounds.
Aly and AJ– a classic from my childhood, they came out with a new album ‘A touch of the beat…’ and I think it is PERFECT for summer playlists.
Jonas Brothers– another childhood necessity. Their ‘Happiness’ album is also great to have on for every summer event.
Hippo Campus– They just have so many songs that feel like summer, you can’t go wrong.
You can listen to my new summer 2021 playlist here. A more laid back soundtrack to the summer.
Here are my previous summer playlists, a bit more upbeat. Both are filled with everything from the 80s to Disney Channel originals- so there is something for everyone.
To Read:
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
My friend texted me while she was in the middle of it and told me to read it so of course the next week I picked it up from the library. If you are a fan of retellings of classic stories this book is for you. A book centered around Wonderland’s the Queen of Hearts before she was the queen. I couldn’t put it down.
Worthy of Wearing by Nicole M. Caruso
A book for all women. Nicole’s book is beautifully curated with images and filled with insights on how to find your own personal style and why you are worthy of allowing the dignity of your interior to be shown outwardly. Plus its a great coffee table sized book.
Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis
As much of a bookworm as I am, I have never read the Narnia series before. Aside from The Magician’s Nephew. This was the year I decided to change that. I even added it to my 50 books in 52 weeks list. (28 books so far, and you can catch up with those posts here)
I am about to start Voyage of the Dawn Treader and I have enjoyed all 4 of the other books so far. They are quick summer reads and I have loved reading them since I love the movies.
To Wear:
Giant Sun Hat
Hats are my favorite way to spice up an outfit and in the summer, a great way to keep the sun off your face at the pool. And having a giant sun hat is just a lot of fun.

Bucket hat
Are bucket hats still in style? I am not super big bucket hat person, but I got a matching one with my college roommate when we were in Florida and I think they are the best beach hats. (Florida blog posts coming soon…)
They provide some more coverage than a baseball cap and its total fine if they get wet.

Summer Dresses
I love dresses in the summer because you can use them as a cover up, a going out outfit, and they won’t stick to you like shorts will in the heat. Plus there is zero effort needed to look put together in one. Just grab it out of the closet and bam, a whole outfit ready.
