Meaning Behind My Blog Name

Meaning Behind My Blog Name |Thoughts&Daisies A little over a year ago I decided I wanted to start a blog but I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to name my blog.

A little over a year ago I decided I wanted to start a blog, and being the person I am, I spent about 3 months researching and preparing. I started pre-writing content and figuring out what web host and software I wanted but after all this, I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to name my blog.

I spent hours scrolling through lists of names of colors and adjectives. I went on random name generator sites to see if they would give me any knowledge. They didn’t. I searched ‘how to name your blog’ to see if that would give me ideas. Eventually, I started looking into different movie quotes from movies I liked to see if there was anything that sparked my interest.

At the same time, my mom was doing her own naming process to try and help me.  We sent each other messages back and forth for days about what we thought would be a good name, Even my dad and my brother got in on the action.

I eventually began to want a name that had something to do with one of my all-time favorite movies, “You’ve Got Mail” starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. This is the movie I watch every time I’m sick, sad, or just all the time, and no matter how much I see it I cry.

It is also a movie filled with great quotes.

Then one day after spending hours and hours and having dozens of potential names I started taking ideas from the potential names and putting them together… and it worked.

‘Thoughts’ came from the fact that my blog would be filled with my ‘thoughts’ on things, clever I know, but at one point it was in a potential name ‘thoughts around the corner’ a direct play at Meg Ryan’s bookstore in the movie.

And ‘daisies’ which, although being one of my favorite flowers, has ties back to the movie as well. Ryan’s character Kathleen Kelly’s favorite flower is the daisy and she has a quote that I love.

“I love daisies, they are so friendly. Don’t you think that daisies are the friendliest flower?”

Thus “Thoughts and Daisies” came to be. So if I told you that “You’ve Got Mail” wasn’t the total and almost sole reason for my blog name, I would be lying.

Have you seen “You’ve Got Mail?”
