Living in a dorm sometimes you don’t have access to all the fancy necessities to cook a gourmet meal, or even just a pot to put on the stove, but have no fear you can still cook some delicious things!
All you need is a microwavable mug and a microwave.
French Toast
Yes, you can make french toast in a mug! I didn’t believe it at first either.
What you need
Milk
Eggs
Bread (wheat seems to work the best)
Vanilla (can substitute with some syrup is needed)
Cinnamon
First whisk eggs together with milk, vanilla, and cinnamon
Soak cut up pieces of bread in the mixture
Place in microwave for 60-90 seconds depending on the way your microwave cooks food
AND SERVE
Add some of your favorite toppings like syrup, chocolate chips, or fruit to taste.
Eggs
The easiest eggs to make in the microwave are your standard scrambled.
Crack eggs into a mug, I find up to three works the best
Whisk eggs with salt and pepper, adding milk will help to fluff your eggs
Microwave on high for 45 seconds, stir
Microwave for another 30-45 seconds
And TADA
Add some cheese, herbs, or even salsa for added flavor
Mac and Cheese
½ cup of macaroni noodles
½ cup of water
Shredded cheese
Salt and Pepper
Add noodles and water to large mug cook on high for 1 min, stir
Cook for another minute, stir
Continue to cook in 30-second intervals until macaroni are thoroughly cooked
If it is getting too dry add a bit of water
Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper
Enjoy!
Note: Be careful to watch your macaroni because the water is prone to overflow during the cooking process
All of these meals can also be made in a microwave safe bowl as well.
These are great alternatives for when you get tired of campus food or ordering pizza.
